Having a massive customer and fanbase makes this bike is incredibly popular. ![]() IMHO this is a potentially dangerous issue, missing a shift on track in a pack of riders is not fun!! :frown2:įor this reason, I have eliminated the connectors and soldered the connections - and it works great.The 15-19 Yamaha R1 is probably the bike we get emailed about tuning the most (besides the 20+) so we decided to take it on in 2020. So if you have this kit fitted and you experience rough/inconsistent downshifts and non-operative quick-shifts, you should check the integrity of your connectors first. So it looks like a problem with FTECU's quality control. The kit comes with these 2 fittings as part of the replacement wiring (the 2 white connectors in the photo). The connections to the female end of both fittings were good. On both connectors the wires had not been crimped in the male fittings and had vibrated out. With the help of my buddy, we traced the fault to the two connectors that come with the kit. However, first the quick-shifter failed and then the auto-blipper became inconsistent. On my test ride it worked perfectly for ~35 miles. This also involves replacing the OEM quick-shift sensor. I just had an FTECU auto-blipper installed on my 2017 R1M.
